Vaibhav Suryavanshi slammed a 35-ball ton in RR vs GT clash.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has scripted his name in the record books by becoming the youngest player to smack a half-century and century in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener achieved the feat in the match No. 47 of the tournament on Monday, August 28. The left-handed batsman slammed a quickfire fifty off just 17 balls in the clash against Gujarat Titans (GT). Later, he also converted it into a century.

The RR vs GT encounter is taking place at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. RR skipper Riyan Parag won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. Batting first, GT piled up a mammoth total of 209/4 in 20 overs. GT opener and skipper Shubman Gill slammed a stunning knock of 84 runs. Jos Buttler also hit a quick half-century to power the visitors to a gigantic total.

As RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryavanshi arrived on the field during the chase, the latter grabbed the limelight with his fiery batting show. He scored six maximums to reach his half-century. Later, he went on to score a century and got out for 101 off 38 balls including 11 sixes. He also registered the fastest fifty and hundred off the season, which came in 17 and 35 balls respectively.

The left-handed batsman has broken a long-standing record of being the youngest batter to smack a fifty in the IPL. He has achieved the record at the age of 14 years and 32 days. Notably, he has broken the record of RR current stand-in skipper Parag, who held the earlier record. Parag slammed a fifty in IPL 2019 against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) He was 17 years and 175 days old at that time.

Interestingly, Parag had broken the record of RR skipper Sanju Samson then. Suryavanshi also leapfrogged Manish Pandey in the list of youngest batters to hit a hundred in the IPL.

Meanwhile, Suryavanshi is also the youngest player to make debut in the IPL. He achieved the record in his maiden game for RR in IPL 2025. He also slammed a six on the vert first delivery he faced in the tournament. However, he could not score a half-century in his first game.
