"Go on, lead the next generation" Virat Kohli’s ultimate praise for Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill is now second on IPL 2023 Orange Cap list with 576 runs.

Shubman Gill, the Gujarat Titans' opener, received the highest praise from flamboyant Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli after his spectacular century against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023.

In the first innings, Gill pounded up 101 runs off just 58 deliveries, including 13 fours and one maximum. In addition, the opener and B Sai Sudharsan worked together to put up a crucial 147-run partnership for the second wicket.

Highly thrilled with his performance against the orange team, Kohli praised the opener on social media with a touching message. Kohli, who has established numerous records, gently suggested Gill as the replacement due to Gill's recent influence.

“There is potential and then there’s Gill. Go on and lead the next generation. God bless you Shubman Gill,” Kohli captioned his Instagram story.

With 576 runs in 13 innings and a respectable average of 48.00, Gill moved up to second place in the IPL Orange Cap standings. A double century in the ODIs against New Zealand in 2023 and three centuries across the three formats further demonstrate the batter's incredible form.

GT reached 188/9 in 20 overs thanks to a magnificent 101 from Shubman Gill and 47 from Sai Sudharsan. However, from the GT XI, only these hitters managed to surpass single-digit scores. In response, SRH struggled to 154/9 thanks to four wickets each from Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma. They once were 59/7.

Heinrich Klaasen's 64 points on 44 balls gave their final scoreboard a decent look.  By winning the game by a score of 34 runs, GT became the first IPL 2023 team to advance to the playoffs.

GT has been assured a top-two finish and still has one more match to go in the league stage, against RCB, which will be played on Sunday, May 21.
