Captain KL Rahul joined Lucknow Super Giants camp for IPL 2024 on Wednesday.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul was away from the cricketing action for last one month. Rahul missed the last four test matches of the recently concluded five-match test series against England. Rahul complained of right quadriceps pain following the first test and then got ruled out of the second test. He was then included in squad for last three tests, but he couldn’t attain 100 percent match fitness and hence got ruled out of the last four tests.

After rehabbing at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, KL Rahul has now joined the LSG camp on Wednesday. LSG head coach Justin Langer is hopeful about Rahul’s availability in their opening encounter of the IPL 2024 against Rajasthan Royals. Rahul travelled to London to receive treatment on his quadriceps injury.

Langer hopeful of Rahul’s availability

Justin Langer in a press conference informed KL Rahul’s arrival date and said he will join the side just around the start of play. Langer said, “KL was supposed to be here this afternoon to play in the practice game tonight, but unfortunately, he’s had a hold-up on the aeroplane. He’ll be at the ground later on tonight, so he’ll probably arrive just after the start of the day’s play.”

LSG head coach also expressed that he is hopeful that Rahul will good to go from the opening game. Langer added, “Everyone’s looking forward to seeing him. We know he has worked very hard to tick off all his return-to-play protocols. He’s worked very hard. He’s been practising, he’s been hitting lots of balls. He’s hopefully ready to go. It’s going to be nice to have the captain with us.”

KL Rahul had to miss the later part of the IPL 2023 due to a serious injury he sustained in a game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru) in Lucknow. LSG will play their first match of this IPL season against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on 24th March. LSG finished in the top four last season.
