Ireland & Scotland qualify for ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies & USA

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and USA will be a 20-team tournament.
After missing out on the 50 overs Cricket World Cup in 2023 previous month, Ireland have washed away the disappointment in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup Europe Regional Finals in Scotland. Ireland have booked their place for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and the US. Ireland got the ticket to the West Indies as their clash against Germany was washed out by rain in Edinburgh. Ireland are positioned number one in the 7-team points table with 9 points in 5 games. Ireland are unbeaten in the T20 World Cup Europe Region finals with one game to go. Ireland will take on the hosts Scotland on Friday at Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh.
Opener Paul Stirling was chosen as skipper for the tournament replacing Andy Balbirnie who quit the captaincy after disappointment in Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe. Celebrating Ireland’s success, Paul Stirling said, “While it’s true that we would rather have achieved qualification on the field today. We are delighted to have achieved our primary objective of qualifying for next year’s World T20. We came to Scotland with a clear plan and style of play we wanted to implement, and I think we delivered on that front”. Ireland had a little scare against Italy in the first game of the tournament but they somehow won the game by 7 runs.
Scotland also qualify for the tournament
Scotland have also qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024 after winning their clash against Denmark by 33 runs. Scotland defeated Denmark in a rain-curtailed game. The encounter lost two overs due to rain as both teams played 18 overs each. Batting first, Scotland scored 159 runs in 18 overs. Captain Richie Berrington played a magnificent knock of 60 runs to power Scotland to a decent total. Denmark never looked in control of the chase and kept losing wicket after wicket to finally finishing on 126, 33 runs short of the target. Scotland's Bardley Currey picked up 3 wickets in 4 overs conceding only 18 and helped Scotland seal the spot with Ireland.
