Irfan Pathan names his best XII of IPL 2025; Appoints Shreyas Iyer as captain and includes 3 RCB players

Irfan Pathan picked Virat Kohli and Sai Sudharsan as openers of his best XI of IPL 2025.
Cricketer-turned-commentator Irfan Pathan has revealed his best team of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The IPL 2025 concluded on Tuesday, June 3 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lifting the trophy by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final by six runs.
Pathan has picked a total of 12 players in his team of the tournament. Out of his best 12 players, he picked three players each from RCB, Mumbai Indians (MI), and Gujarat Titans (GT). He inducted one player each from PBKS, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
The former left-arm seamer has chosen Shreyas Iyer as captain of his team. Iyer-led PBKS reached the playoffs and final of the tournament after a gap of 10 seasons. They last reached the playoffs in the 2014 edition, where they also made it to the finals and finished as runners-up.

Pathan shared a post on his official account on X (formerly Twitter) to reveal his best XII of the tournament. He picked Virat Kohli and Sai Sudharsan as openers of the team. Other than Kohli, Krunal Pandya and Josh Hazlewood were the other two RCB players in his team.
Irfan then went on to add GT opener Sudharsan, who won the Orange Cap, to his team of the tournament. Jos Buttler and Prasidh Krishna were the other GT players who found a place in Pathan’s best XII of the tournament. Pathan also added MI stalwarts Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah in his team.
Notably, Kohli finished as the leading run-scorer of the eventual champions RCB with 657 runs. Overall, he ended as the third highest run-getter in the season. Hazlewood ended as the leading wicket-taker for the champions with 22 scalps.
Overall, he finished in the third spot among the top wicket-takers in the tournament. GT pacer Krishna won the Purple Cap in IPL 2025 with 25 wickets.
