Rinku Singh’s T20 World Cup 2026 future is in doubt following his father’s demise battling a prolonged illness.
Rinku Singh’s father, Khanchand Singh, passed away on Friday due to stage four cancer. He was undergoing treatment at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida. However, earlier this week, his health deteriorated, and he had to be placed on ventilator support.
The Rinku’s father has been ill for some time now, which led to the 28-year-old leaving the camp before the T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 match against Zimbabwe in Chennai. Although Rinku returned in time for the match, but he was not included in the playing XI.

But prior to the West Indies clash, Rinku Singh suffered a major personal setback after losing his father to liver cancer. Rinku, reportedly left the India camp after the match against Zimbabwe following his father’s demise. Rinku travelled to Aligarh to be with his family in these difficult circumstances.
There is a certain level of uncertainty regarding Rinku’s availability for the rest of the tournament. But according to reports from Hindustan Times, Rinku is set to join the India squad after performing the final rites of his late father.
There is no official word from the BCCI or the Indian team management regarding his availability yet. It is still unclear whether the 28-year-old will be taking part in any further matches of India’s remaining T20 World Cup 2026 campaign.
As India gear up for a virtual knockout, the team will also come together to support their teammate in this trying time.
