Is there a reserve day for the semi-finals of T20 World Cup 2026?

South Africa, New Zealand, England and India are the four semi-finalists of the T20 World Cup 2026.

The T20 World Cup 2026 has reached its business. Just three matches are remaining and we will have our champions. The two semi-finals will be played on March 4 and 5, respectively, followed by the final on March 8 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The four semi-finalists for this event are England, South Africa, New Zealand and India. The Proteas will face the Kiwis at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, in the first semi-final on Wednesday, March 4. The second semi-final will be played between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, March 5. Both the matches will start from 7:00 PM IST.

Interestingly, the ICC has scheduled a reserve day for both semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2026. In case the semi-finals have a delayed start due to rain, an additional 90-120 minutes have been allocated on the match day. If the match cannot be completed on the scheduled day, it will resume or be replayed on the following day.

For the first semi-final between South Africa and New Zealand on March 4, March 5 is assigned as the reserve day. For the India vs England second semi-final on March 5, March 6 is scheduled reserve day.

In case the semi-finals move onto the reserve day, the matches will start from 3:00 PM IST as opposed to the scheduled 7:00 PM start. With India still experiencing the winter season, it is highly unlikely that the two semi-finals might be affected by rain. However, in case they do, rules are in place.

In case the semi-finals are left incomplete due to inclement weather conditions, even on the reserve day, the team with a higher Super 8 ranking will advance through to the final. There is also a reserve day for the T20 World Cup 2026 final. The final will be played on March 8 as per the original schedule with March 9 being the reserve day.

England were the first team to make it through to the semi-finals of this T20 World Cup. They defeated Pakistan by four wickets to reach the semis. The Proteas made it through to the semis after beating West Indies by five wickets in their final Super 8 clash.

The Kiwis made it through to the semis after Pakistan won their final Super 8 game against co-hosts Sri Lanka, who failed to win even a single game in the Super 8 stage. India were the last and final team to make it through to the semis after winning their must-win clash against the West Indies in Kolkata last Sunday.

Two of the final four teams in New Zealand and South Africa are yet to win the T20 World Cup. England and India have won the title twice before. Currently, India are the defending champions of the T20 World Cup and are eyeing to defend their title at home.

When is the first semi-final between South Africa and New Zealand?

The first semi-final will be played in Kolkata on March 4 from 7 PM IST.

When is the second semi-final between India and England?

The second semi-final will be played in Mumbai on March 5 from 7 PM IST.
