Indian wicket-keeper-batsman Ishan Kishan picked his favourite position to bat.
Ishan Kishan provided clarity regarding his role in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, which holds significant importance as part of India's preparations for the upcoming World Cup.
Throughout the majority of Asia Cup, Kishan was slotted as a middle-order batsman, showcasing his ability in that role. However, a change occurred in the final match against Sri Lanka when Kishan stepped up as an opener.
Ishan Kishan played a crucial knock of 82 runs against Pakistan.
Kishan's remarkable performance during the group-stage clash against Pakistan, where he scored an impressive 82 runs from 81 balls, not only showcased his cricketing skills but also solidified his role as a crucial asset within India's middle-order batting lineup.
There was some speculation about Kishan's batting position in the upcoming series against Australia. However, he addressed this and clarified his role following India's victory in Asia Cup final match against Sri Lanka.
"We know our roles, we know how to prepare for the World Cup. We are playing against Australia, and I will be batting in the middle-order."
"The bowlers were on point today. I would like to give credit to bowlers. Siraj and Bumrah. It's not easy to bat in the second innings. We were prepared for any challenge, we spoke about it in the team meetings. I always love to open, the total wasn't much, so it was a big yes (when asked to open) from my side. Can't do much when you have only 50 runs on the board. But thanks to the skipper," Kishan added.
