Ishan Kishan ruled out of the Duleep Trophy 2025, Abhimanyu Easwaran appointed captain of East Zone

Indian wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the East Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2025 due to an injury. The left-handed batsman was alll set to lead the East Zone in the tournament.
With Ishan Kishan ruled out, vice-captain Abhimanyu Easwaran will lead East Zone in Duleep Trophy 2025. Moreover, Odisha’s wicketkeeper-batter Aasirwad Swain has been picked as the replacement for Kishan in East Zone squad.
The Duleep Trophy 2025 could have proved to be vital for Ishan Kishan, who has been out of the national setup for a while. He played his last international game in 2023. Last month, the Indian wicket-keeper represented Nottinghamshire in England’s county cricket.
East Zone’s updated squad for Duleep Trophy 2025-26

Abhimanyu Easwaran (C), Aasirwad Swain (WK), Sandeep Patnaik, Virat Singh, Denish Das, Sridam Paul, Sharandeep Singh, Kumar Kushagra, Riyan Parag, Utkarsh Singh, Manishi, Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal, Mukesh Kumar, Mukhtar Hussain, Mohammed Shami.
Standbys: Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Swastik Samal, Sudip Kumar Gharami and Rahul Singh.
During the recent Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, Rishabh Pant was ruled out of the final test at The Oval due to a foot injury. Kishan was seen as a replacement, however, he could not join the squad as he was suffering from an injury. Later, N Jagadeesan earned his maiden call-up in the test team.
Meanwhile, Duleep Trophy will start Indian Cricket’s 2025-26 domestic season. The domestic tournament will commence on August 28 and witness a total of five matches. East Zone, West Indies, North Zone, South Zone, Central Zone, and North East Zone are six teams part of the tournament.
All the matches will be played at BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground B in Bengaluru. East Zone will face North Zone in the 1st quarter-final match on August 28. South Zone and West Zone, the finalists of the previous edition, will directly play the semi-finals.
