Ishant Sharma was asked to choose ahead of the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 encounter.
One of the best pacers India have ever produced, Ishant Sharma, made a surprising call when he was asked to name the best fast bowler the Indian team have at present. He was asked to pick one pacer ahead of the blockbuster India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 tie in Kandy.
Indian team have been doing very well in bilateral series, but in multi-nation tournaments, their cabinet has been bare since 2018 Asia Cup trophy. India have failed to go past the knockout rounds in ICC and Asia Cup tournaments.
In the last Asia Cup tournament in 2022, India failed to make it into the finals, losing to Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the super 4 stage.
India will start their Asia Cup 2023 tournament against Pakistan on September 2nd in Pallekele, Sri Lanka, and will have a tough task as the men in green defeated Nepal in dominating fashion in Multan on August 30 in the tournament opener.
Ishant Sharma nominated Mohammed Siraj as India’s best hope against Pakistan
Indian pace unit will be at full strength as Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj have returned from their recent injuries, and Mohammad Shami is back fresh after a break. India also have Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur in the camp as other pacers.
In a talk show called The Home of Heroes, Indian pacer Ishant Sharma ranked the best of India's pace unit. The lanky fast bowler nominated Mohammed Siraj as India’s best hope, given his recent performances and the kind of momentum that he has generated of late.
Talking about India’s fast bowling options, Ishant said, "Siraj, obviously. Should we add Bumrah or not? It depends on fitness. I think Bumrah will have to play smart. There is no test series until the World Cup, so he has to just play white-ball cricket. After that, Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, and Umran Malik
Mohammed Siraj's ability will only be revealed over time when India and Pakistan square off, and Bumrah will also be a key player to watch out for considering his diverse arsenal.
