Jacob Bethell has been opening the innings for RCB in the absence of injured Phil Salt in IPL 2026.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants are locking horns in the 50th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Thursday, May 7. RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to field first in the clash.

RCB bowlers completely failed to dominate LSG batters in the encounter, which was halted thrice due to rain and shortened to 19 overs per side. Opener Mitchell Marsh hammered a spectacular century, putting RCB bowlers under pressure.

With his unbeaten 111 runs off 56 deliveries, Marsh took the scoreboard to 165/2 in 16 overs before losing his wicket. Nicholas Pooran (38) and Rishabh Pant (32*) made crucial contributions to drive the scoreboard to 209/3.

Notably, RCB suffered a big blow as their opener Jacob Bethell sustained an injury while fielding. Since Phil Salt is missing another game due to his finger injury, Bethell has been picked as an opener alongside Virat Kohli.

Notably, the injury was not serious as Bethell came out to open the batting with Virat Kohli. He got out of four runs off five deliveries, suffering another poor outing.
