On Sunday, everyone celebrated one of the biggest festivals of Diwali across the globe. From cricketers to politicians, everyone truly indulged in celebrating the festival of lights. Amid all these, India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also met Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty to convey the best wishes of India’s PM Narendra Modi on the auspicious occasion of Diwali at 10 Downing Street.

In a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), it also focused on growing bilateral partnerships between the two nations. The release quoted, “India and the UK share a warm and thriving relationship. The India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was launched in 2021, along with the India-UK Roadmap 2030. The Roadmap is a commitment to a partnership that delivers for both countries. EAM’s visit will give a new impetus to the friendly ties between the two countries.”

Notably, the PMs of both nations had a telephonic conversation on November 3. Both discussed the progress of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). However, the UK PM also congratulated Modi on the brilliant performance of the Indian cricket team in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at home. Both leaders also had a conversation about the ongoing Hamas-Israel war. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is currently in action and is the top scorer in the World Cup 2023. India have qualified for the semis, and they will face New Zealand in the first semi-final on November 15.
