ENG vs IND: Jamie Smith completes 1000 test runs, equals Quinton de Kock's record

Jamie Smith has completed 1000 test runs in 21 innings.
The England Cricket Team and the Indian Cricket Team are locking horns in third test of the five-match series at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. During the clash, English wicket-keeper Jamie Smith scored a crucial half-century in the first innings. With that, he also completed 1000 runs in his test career.
Jamie Smith equalled the record scoring 1000 test runs in least innings taken amongst wicket-keeper batters. He achieved the mark in his 21st innings. The right-handed batter now shares the record for former South African wicket-keeper batter Quinton de Kock, who also completed 1000 test runs in 21 innings.
Meanwhile, Smith overtook Jonny Bairstow to become England’s fastest wicket-keeper batter to 1000 test runs. Bairstow had completed 1000 test runs in 22 innings for England. Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal took 22 innings to reach the milestone, while Kumar Sangakkar and AB de Villiers took 23 innings each to reach the milestone of 1000 test runs as a wicket-keeper batter.

Jamie Smith slammed a century in the Edgbaston test
Smith showed a wonderful form with the bat in the second test of the series at Edgbaston, which came in a losing cause. He scored an unbeaten 184 runs in the first innings and 88 runs in the second innings. However, his brilliant knocks went in vain as England lost the encounter by 336 runs in the end.
Talking about the Lord’s test, England have amassed over 350 runs in the first innings. Joe Root (104) hammered a marvellous century in the first innings, scoring his 11th ton against India.
Openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett lost their wickets cheaply for 18 and 23 respectively. Jasprit Bumrah has hunted a four-wicket haul for India, while Nitish Kumar Reddy has picked two wickets. Earlier, England won the toss and chose to bat first.
