Indian Cricket Team and England Cricket Team are wrestling in the second test of the five-match series for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. England wicket-keeper Jamie Smith slammed a sensational century in the first innings, after his team lost their top five batters cheaply.

Jamie Smith’s knock helped England to make a comeback in the encounter. Notably, England lost three of their batters for ducks in the first innings as Ben Stokes, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope failed to score any runs. Joe Root (22) and Zak Crawley (19) also failed to go big with the bat.

With a deadly pace bowling by Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep, England lost five wickets for just 84 runs on the scoreboard. However, a brilliant 165-run* stand by Harry Brook and Smith helped England to reach a decent total of 249/5 at the end of the first session on day three.

Wicket-keeper batter Jamie Smith reached his century off just 80 deliveries, hitting 14 fours and three sixes. With his quickfire century, he made the record for the joint third-fastest century by an England batsman in tests, sharing the feat with Harry Brook.

Earlier, India posted a big total of 587/10 in the first innings with a double century by captain Shubman Gill. Hitting 269 runs, the Indian skipper slammed his first double century in tests and broke multiple batting records.
