Jasprit Bumrah played just three games in the England series.
Former Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun has shared his take on Jasprit Bumrah‘s workload. He said that the fast bowler should miss the Indian Premier League (IPL) if there is a five-match test series around the corner.
Jasprit Bumrah’s workload has been one of the major topics going on in Indian cricket. After he played just three games in the test series against England, missing the two crucial games of the series, when it mattered.
Jasprit Bumrah, who got injured after playing five games in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, missed the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, after that, he decided that he would play only three games during the England series. The management also didn’t force him, keeping in mind that he is a valuable asset for the side.
With his workload being a major talking point, Bharat Arun suggested that not playing in the IPL would help Jasprit Bumrah. He also added that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should adequately compensate him for the same. Speaking to Times Internet, he said:
“Definitely, this would help. Especially when you want to preserve bowlers. Like, it’s okay for a batter or a spinner to play all formats. But for a fast bowler, yes — playing too much cricket doesn’t give enough time to work on the physical front.
“So yes, this definitely can be looked into. People like Bumrah or any other bowler we feel is very important for a particular series can be rested, and they can also be adequately compensated. If he’s properly compensated and then told by the BCCI, because he’s on contract, that we want you to work on this particular aspect of your game, I think that’s fair enough.”
He is the captain’s delight – Bharat Arun on Mohammed Siraj

Bharat Arun lauded Mohammed Siraj for his exceptional effort, saying that he brings fantastic energy. He also added that the pacer needs to be preserved and given proper rest. He said:
“Siraj has been there for a while. He has been exceptional. He is the captain’s delight. Every time you give him the ball, he runs in and gives 100%. That is what I expect from a fast bowler. He’s got fantastic energy.“
“Looking at this five-Test series, Siraj has maintained the same intensity in the fifth Test as in the first. He needs to be preserved and given sufficient rest before the next series so he can recover fully physically before playing again.”
Mohammed Siraj didn’t get picked in the Indian team for the Asia Cup 2025. He was rested as he bowled over 180 overs in the series against England. He’s expected to return for the series against the West Indies in October.
