Jasprit Bumrah can become Asian bowler with most test wickets in England.

The Indian Cricket Team will wrestle with the England Cricket Team in the fourth test at Old Trafford, Manchester. The encounter will commence on July 23. Jasprit Bumrah is highly likely to lead India’s pace attack in the match.

Earlier, Bumrah was doubtful to play in the Manchester test as he would play only three games out of the five tests in the series. However, due to multiple injuries in the Indian camp, his presence is a must for the team.

Notably, Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the series due to a knee injury. Pacer Arshdeep Singh has been ruled out of the fourth test. Akash Deep might be unavailable for the Manchester test due to his back injury. Hence, India cannot afford to rest Bumrah in the next game in such a scenario.

Jasprit Bumrah on verge of becoming Asian bowler with most test wickets in England

Notably, the senior Indian pacer has a good opportunity to become the Asian bowler with the most test wickets in England. Currently, former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram holds the record for most test wickets in England.

Akram hunted 53 wickets in 14 matches in England. The next bowler on the list is Ishant Sharma with 51 scalps. Bumrah currently has 49 wickets in 11 tests in England. Hence, he needs five more wickets to break Akram’s record.

Moreover, Bumrah can also surpass Akram to claim the most five-wicket hauls in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries among Asian bowlers. Both Bumrah and Akram have 11 five-wicket hauls in SENA.

Meanwhile, the right-arm pacer has done a wonderful job in the series so far. He picked up five-wicket hauls in both matches that he played at Headingley and the Lord’s. With 12 wickets in two games at an average of 21, Bumrah is the second-highest wicket-taker in the series after Mohammed Siraj (13).
