Zak Crawley scored four runs before becoming a victim of Jasprit Bumrah in the Headingley test.
India’s tour of England 2025 kicked off on Friday (June 20) with the opening test match. The India Cricket Team and the England Cricket Team are locking horns in the first game of the five-match series at Headingley, Leeds. After being asked to bat first, the Shubman Gill-led side piled up a mammoth total of 471/10 in the first innings.
Indian ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah provided his team with an early breakthrough by dismissing Zak Crawley in the first over. The England opener scored four runs before becoming a victim of a fast bowler as he failed to provide his team with a good start.
Bumrah set up Crawley perfectly as he bowled a series of deliveries outside off-stump at the start. Later, he bowled his final delivery of the over that was angling middle-leg and then straightened, which was almost unplayable for any batter. Crawley got an outside edge and was caught by Karun Nair at first slip.

Meanwhile, three Indian batters slammed centuries in the first innings of the Headingley test. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 101 runs, hitting a ton in his maiden test match in England. Shubman Gill (147) and Rishabh Pant (134) also played brilliant innings to power the scoreboard to a gigantic total.
Sai Sudharsan, who made his debut in the encounter, bagged a duck in the match. Karun Nair, who returned to the test team after eight years, also lost his wicket for a duck. His dismissal disappointed many cricket fans as they expected him to come up with a good show in the encounter. Both of them were dismissed by Ben Stokes.
For England, captain Stokes and pacer Josh Tongue clinched four wickets each. The rest two wickets were taken by Brydon Carse and Shoaib Bashir. However, England bowlers failed to attack the Indian batting line-up at the start.
