Jasprit Bumrah is known for providing with breakthroughs when his team needs. Due to his bowling brilliance, he represents Team India across all three formats. Also, his side in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians (MI) have backed him all over the years and retained him every season since his debut in the league.

5. July 2022 – September 2022 – 1 and a half months (Back injury)

Jasprit Bumrah suffered a back injury in July 2022 after leading Team India in a one-off Test match in England. He led India for the first time in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who missed the after testing positive for Covid-19. However, just after the match, he was out of action for one and a half months due to a back injury.

4. Jun 2018 – August 2018 – 2 months (Thumb injury)

In June 2018, Bumrah sustained a thumb injury while attempting a catch during India vs Ireland T20I series. He got injured in the first game and was ruled out of the entire series. The star pacer returned to the side after a gap of two months for the test series against England.

Before his return, he missed the three-match T20I series, three-match ODI series, and the first two tests against England. He returned in the third test and also played in the next two games.

3. Jan 2025 – April 2025 – 3 months (Back injury)

Bumrah showed a marvellous performance during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He won Player of the Series award for an impeccable bowling show. However, he sustained a back injury during the fifth test in Sydney.

Notably, Bumrah had a heavy workload during the campaign, playing all five test matches. As a result, the right-armer missed the crucial ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Bumrah finally made his return to the field on April 7, 2025, when he played in MI’s home game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

2. Sep 2019 – Jan 2020 – 4 months (Lower back stress fracture)

Team India faced South Africa in a home series in September 2019. During the home series, India faced South Africa in three tests and three T20Is. However, Bumrah was ruled out of the series due to a lower back stress fracture. He went on to miss four months of cricket action and returned to the Indian side in January 2020.

1. Sep 2022 – Aug 2023 – 11 months (Recurring back injury)

Jasprit Bumrah was out of the field for 11 months from September 2022 to August 2023, and this was his longest time off the field. The right-arm pacer sustained a back injury in September 2022. As a result, he missed ICC T20 World Cup 2022. He went on to struggle with his back issues for a long time and ultimately underwent back surgery in March 2023.

As a result, he missed IPL 2023. He finally made a comeback to the national side in August 2023 during the three-match T20I series against Ireland. He was captain of the side and then played for India in Asia Cup 2023 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as well.
