Jasprit Bumrah confirms his availability for the Asia Cup 2025 - Reports

Jasprit Bumrah will be vital cog in the wheel for India in the Asia Cup 2025.

The Indian Cricket Team have received a massive boost ahead of Asia Cup 2025. According to a report in The Indian Express, it is understood that Jasprit Bumrah has confirmed his availability for the tournament to the selectors. 

Asia Cup 2025 begins on 9th September, and the Indian squad for the tournament is expected to be announced in the coming week. Several reports have claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will name the team on 19th August. 

The lead-up to India’s squad announcement for Asia Cup 2025 has kept many excited. There have been a lot of speculations about who will be there in the team and who won’t be there. Several reports have claimed that some big names are all set to miss the tournament as the BCCI is unlikely to disturb the combination. 

In the bowling department, the availability of Jasprit Bumrah will make the team look completely different. There were also a lot of questions over his participation as he had just returned from England, where he featured in three tests out of the five.

With the West Indies test series starting just after the Asia Cup 2025, a lot of questions were raised about his availability. However, he himself has conveyed to the selectors that he is available for selection. 

“Bumrah has informed the selectors that he will be available for the Asia Cup selection. The selection committee will meet and discuss it when they meet next week,” a source was quoted as saying. 

Jasprit Bumrah hasn’t played a white-ball game in a while for India. His last game came during the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados. Since then, he has been playing only in the tests, both at home and away. 

Bumrah’s workload has been maintained crucially by the BCCI, especially after he faced a back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The workload is unlikely to be an issue in Asia Cup 2025 as he can bowl a maximum of four overs per match with three to four days’ rest between fixtures in the group stage.
