Jasprit Bumrah took the first wicket of Australia in IND vs AUS CWC 2023 match.

India showed great resilience, which is why they are the No. 1 ranked ODI team, as they defeated Australia in their first ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 encounter, which was played in Chennai on October 8.

Australia batted first after winning the toss and were restricted to 199, with David Warner making 41 and Steve Smith making 46 runs. Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Starc also added some runs on the board. For India, Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah achieved a rare feat for an Indian pacer when he dismissed Mitchell Marsh for a duck in the third over of the innings. Marsh, who had opened along with David Warner, got bamboozled by the extra bounce of Bumrah's delivery and ended up giving a catch to Virat Kohli at the slip.

With this, Bumrah became the first-ever Indian bowler to get an Australian opener out for a duck in a World Cup match.

Marsh was caught by Virat Kohli in the slips. This was Kohli’s 15th catch in World Cup history and he went past Anil Kumble’s record of 14 catches in World Cup tournaments by an Indian.

After Australia was dismissed for 199 runs, Indian batters didn’t have a good time either. Mitchell Starc got rid of Ishan Kishan for a golden duck, who went after a wide one and edged it to first slip. Then Josh Hazlewood struck twice in the same over. First, he got Rohit Sharma out of LBW, which was reviewed.

But the DRS came back with the umpire’s call, and the on-field umpire had given Rohit out. A couple of balls later, Shreyas Iyer tried a flirty shot on the offside and was caught by mid-off. At 2/3, India needed some magic, and that was brought by Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

Kohli made 85, and Rahul remained unbeaten on 97*, adding 165 for the 4th wicket. India won the match by six wickets and pocketed two points.
