Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana Ganesan welcomed a baby boy earlier this month.

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah thanked Shaheen Afridi for his amazing gesture of giving him a gift for his newborn baby during the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 super 4s stage encounter in Colombo on September 10, 2023.

Bumrah, who made his Indian team comeback after 11 months with a T20I series win over Ireland in August, played in the first match against Pakistan in Asia Cup tournament as well. However, he had to fly back to India to be with his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, as she gave birth to their first child, a boy whom Bumrah introduced to the world as Angad Jasprit Bumrah.

After spending some time with the baby and the new mom, Bumrah returned to the Asia Cup and was named in India's playing XI for super 4 stage game against Pakistan, which began on September 10, 2023, in Colombo.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam had won the toss and chosen to bowl first. Men in Green came into this encounter with an unchanged XI from the last game. India had to make two changes as Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul came into the side for Mohammad Shami and Shreyas Iyer, who suffered back spasms.

The opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India a positive start, with the latter doing the bulk of the scoring. They accumulated 61 runs in the first powerplay and went on to add 121 runs for the first wicket.

However, Pakistan were able to comfortably control the run flow when Rohit (56) and Shubman (58) were both dismissed in consecutive overs. Before the game was stopped by rain, India had reached 147/2 in 24.1 overs, with Virat Kohli and KL Rahul at the crease.

My family and I are overwhelmed with the love: Jasprit Bumrah on Shaheen Afridi’s gesture

However, despite the best efforts of the Colombo groundsmen, they couldn’t dry some wet patches on the field after the persistent rain stopped for a while, and the officials, after inspecting the ground, decided to carry forward the game to the reserve day.

During the rain break, Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Afridi met with Jasprit Bumrah and gave him a gift to pass onto his newborn baby. He also wished the kid good health.

In response, Bumrah posted on X: “Beautiful gesture, my family and I are overwhelmed with the love! Best wishes always.🤗 @iShaheenAfridi
