Jasprit Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Indian batting lineup has received criticism in the last few months due to their poor performance in test cricket.
Coming off from a disappointing performance in the three-match test series against New Zealand in October, Indian batting has been poor in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 in Australia as well, where they have failed in five out of six innings.
India‘s best performer overall after three games has been Jasprit Bumrah. The Indian vice-captain has so far claimed 17 wickets at an impressive average of under 13.
Bumrah however, made headlines for his off-field antics after day 3 of the Gabba test. Speaking to the media at the end of the day’s play, he gave a witty reply to a journalist’s question about the team’s batting performance.
It began when the journalist asked Bumrah, “Hi, Jasprit. What is your assessment of the batting, although you are not the best person to answer the question, but what do you think about the situation of the team, considering the conditions in Gabba?“
Bumrah was quick to remind the journalist of his impressive batting record, pointing out that he holds the record for the most runs scored in a single over in test cricket—35 runs off Stuart Broad in 2021.
Bumrah said, “It’s an interesting question. But you are questioning my batting ability. You should use Google and see who has got the most number of runs in a test over.“

The Gabba test is currently heading towards a certain draw. Replying to Australia’s 445 in the first innings, India finished fourth day at 252/9, trailing by 193 runs. With rain predicted throughout the fifth day, the match will most probably end in a draw.
Playing XIs of both teams for Gabba test:

Australia: Nathan McSweeney, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood.
