Jasprit Bumrah to return to cricketing action against Ireland in T20I series - Reports

Jasprit Bumrah has not played a single game, be it international or domestic after September 2022.

In a piece of good news for Indian fans before the World Cup 2023, Pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah can make a comeback into the squad against Ireland in August. Team India will be travelling to Ireland for a 3-match T20I series after the West Indies tour. Earlier there were reports that BCCI is trying to fast-track Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant’s rehabilitation and make them ready for the two big tournaments coming ahead. Bumrah has not played a single game after the T20 series against Australia in September last year. Bumrah had gone through surgery after suffering from a serious lower back injury last year.

Bumrah to play in Ireland!

According to a news reports, Bumrah is recovering well after undergoing surgery in March. He has missed many events in between due to this trouble he had in the lower back. Bumrah missed out on ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Indian Premier League, and World Test Championship Final. Team India wants to go to the World Cup with Jasprit Bumrah in the squad. India’s tour of Ireland will begin on 18th August, just a week after India's Caribbean tour ends. Team India will play 3 T20s in Malahide. After this Bumrah will begin their big assignments in the Asia Cup in September and then the big ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

A BCCI official told News 18, “Jasprit Bumrah is looking very good for the Ireland series in August this year. It will be a big boost to the Indian team and will also allow Bumrah time in the middle after the long injury off. If everything stays on course, A Bumrah at peak fitness is likely to take the field”. Along with Bumrah, Indian Team management is also expecting Rishabh Pant to be fit for the World Cup 2023 but it looks highly unlikely as the wicket-keeper batter had suffered a massive accident in December last year and is still recovering from it. Pant is currently at NCA for rehabilitation.
