Jibe at Gautam Gambhir? Virender Sehwag has his say on joining politics

Former Indian captain Virender Sehwag shared his opinions on him joining politics.
Former India captain Virender Sehwag replied to a fan asking him whether he would join politics and his answer seemed like an indirect dig at his former India teammate and current MP from East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir.
Gambhir, who belongs to the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), entered politics in 2019 and defeated AAP’s Atishi Marlena and Congress’ Arvinder Singh Lovely in the 2019 general elections to become a Member of Parliament from East Delhi.
However, Gambhir has also been involved in several cricketing activities as well, playing in the Master’s League T20 tournaments and doing commentary duties at various cricketing events.
Virender Sehwag, his former India and Delhi teammate, holds opposing views as to Gambhir on joining politics.
“I am not at all interested in politics. Have been approached by both major parties in the last two elections. My view is that most entertainers or sportsman should not enter politics as most are their for their own ego and hunger for power and barely spare genuine time for people, few are exceptions but generally most only do PR. I love being involved with cricket and commentating and being a part time MP whenever convenient is not something i ever aspire for,” Sehwag revealed.
Virender Sehwag urges BCCI to use ‘Bharat’ instead of ‘India’ on team jerseys for ICC World Cup 2023
Virender Sehwag had earlier requested BCCI secretary Jay Shah to use ‘Bharat’ instead of ‘India’ on the Men in Blue's jerseys for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 tournament.
Sehwag pointed out that multiple countries like the Netherlands and Myanmar reverted back to their original names after the British era and so should India. And the start should come from the ICC World Cup when Bharat should be used instead of the British-given name of India.
“I have always believed a name should be one which instills pride in us. We are Bhartiyas ,India is a name given by the British & it has been long overdue to get our original name ‘Bharat’ back officially. I urge the @BCCI @JayShah to ensure that this World Cup our players have Bharat on our chest.”
“In the 1996 World Cup ,Netherlands came to play in the World cup in Bharat as Holland. In 2003 when we met them, they were the Netherlands & continue to be so. Burma have changed the name given by the British back to Myanmar. And many others have gone back to their original name,” he posted on X.
