Indian Cricket Team and England Cricket Team are wrestling in third test of the five-match series at the Lord’s. During the encounter, England batsman Joe Root reached a magnificent milestone in his test career. The right-handed batsman has become the fourth batter to cross 8000 test runs while batting at No.4 position.
Root has been a reliable No. 4 batter for England over the years. He has reached the milestone in his 170th innings across 99 tests. Overall, Root has mustered more than 13,000 runs in tests and is the leading run-scorer for England.
With his achievement, Root has joined the likes of batting legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Mahela Jayawardene, and Jacques Kallis. Tendulkar tops this list with 13,492 runs in 275 innings and is the only batsman with more than 10,000 runs batting at No. 4 in tests.
Jayawardene mustered 9509 runs at number four while Kallis piled up 9033 runs. Below are the top five batsmen with the most runs in tests at the No.4 position.

Meanwhile, Root scored a wonderful century in first innings of the Lord’s test. He slammed his 37th test century to surpass legends like Rahul Dravid and Steve Smith in the list of batters most test centuries. With his 104 runs off 199 deliveries, he powered England to 387/10 in the first innings.
Root has also got a good start in the second innings, but lost his wicket to Washington Sundar for 40. At the time of writing, England have crossed 175 in the second innings.
