England fast bowler Jofra Archer is still recovering from his injuries.

England had announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. They made a big change in their squad as they dropped England's 2019 World Cup hero Jason Roy. In one more big update, England's chief selector has informed the media that pace bowler Jofra Archer will be travelling alongside the 15 members of the squad for the upcoming World Cup to India as a reserve player. England will be coming to India after finishing off their upcoming three-match ODI series against Ireland on 26th September.

Jofra Archer in England's plan

England national chief selector Luke Wright informed the media that Jofra will be travelling along and the team physio will be working on his injury. Wright said, “The best thing for Jofra is to travel with the team and keep working with his rehab and being around the physio and the team. We are doing all we can to get him ready to be as good as he can be.” Jofra Archer has not played any cricket after the IPL 2023 and missed all the games after that for his county side as well as for England. Archer was England’s key weapon in the 2019 World Cup.

Luke Wright also informed us that the English camp is still working on him and making him World Cup-ready. Wright said, “If there was an injury he might be able to replace at the back end of the tournament but obviously we are still working on his fitness day-by-day and we will keep accessing that.”

Archer picked 20 wickets for England in the 2019 World Cup. He has been the most injury-prone player in international cricket in recent times. He has played only 21 ODI games in his career along with 11 World Cup games in 2019.

England have called in Harry Brook in place of Jason Roy for the World Cup 2023. Jason Roy’s absence is due to his continuous back trouble and batting form in the domestic tournaments. England will be boosted by the presence of their star all-rounder and hero of the 2019 final Ben Stokes who came out of retirement from ODIs to take part in England’s title defence campaign. England will be playing tournament opener against New Zealand at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on 5th October.
