Josh Hazlewood is confident to win the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at home against India.

Australian speedster Josh Hazlewood sounded determined to defeat the Indian cricket team in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25.

Australia haven’t defeated India across a series since the 2014-15 series. They have lost four consecutive series against India, including twice at home.

The upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy will consist of five matches – this is the first time since the 1991-92 series that these two teams will compete in a five-test series. It will be played from November 2022 to January 7, 2025.

India will be looking to make a hat-trick of test series wins on Australian soil.

The veteran pacer Hazelwood is one of the few Australian cricketers who were part of the 2014-15 squad that won the Border Gavaskar Trophy and will likely feature in this summer’s series as well.

India have got unbelievable depth: Josh Hazlewood

The BGT test series in 2020/21 started on a shocking note when India lost the first test in Adelaide. The visitors were bundled out for just 36 runs in their second innings. After that, Kohli returned home for the birth of his first child. The Indian side also suffered many injuries throughout the series.

However, an injury-hit Indian side recorded stunning wins at the MCG and the Gabba that helped them win the series 2-1.

Ahead of the high-voltage test series against India, speedster Josh Hazlewood feels confident to win the series at home. The Australian pacer hailed India’s significant depth in their squad.

“There are quite a few players who have never beaten India in a Test series. It’s quite astounding to say that. That’s one we need to tick off, definitely, in particular at home – we should pretty much win every series here at home,” Josh Hazlewood was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

“That last series we obviously bowled them out for 36 in Adelaide and we thought here we go, [we are] back at home [and] confident on these grounds. People say we played India B in that last Test, but they can sometimes be stronger than the best team. They’ve got unbelievable depth in all formats and we are starting to see that now,” Hazlewood added.

India’s tour of Australia 2024-25 schedule:

November 22-26: 1st test, Perth Stadium, Perth (D)

December 6-10: 2nd test, Adelaide Oval, Adelaide (D/N)

December 14-18: 3rd test, The Gabba, Brisbane (D)

December 26-30: 4th test, MCG, Melbourne (D)

January 3-7: 5th Test, SCG, Sydney (D)
