Punjab Kings released Josh Inglis ahead of IPL 2026 auction.
The 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will see a mini auction. The event is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. All ten teams made a necessary alteration to their squads and released some of the big names.
Ten teams will enter the IPL 2026 auction to fill the 77 available slots, including 31 overseas stars. A big pool of 1,355 players have registered themselves to come under the hammer. Already superstars like Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Mooen Ali have opted out of the IPL 2026 due to various reasons.
West Indian all-rounder and two-time IPL winner Andre Russell has announced his retirement from IPL. He was released by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the auction. There will be a few stars who might not be available for the IPL 2026 for the complete season.
Josh Inglis confirms his availability for only four games in the IPL 2026
Australian star wicket-keeper Josh Inglis becomes the latest player to confirm his availability with limited time for the IPL 2026. The 30-year-old made his IPL debut last season when Punjab Kings (PBKS) signed him. He had a reasonable performance and scored 278 runs in 11 matches at an average of 30.88 and a strike rate of 162.57.
However, he played a game-changing knock against Mumbai Indians of 73 off 42 balls to help his team finish in the top two. The franchise released him ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, and he will be available to be signed at the coming auction with a base price of INR 2 crore.
However, as per the reports in Cricbuzz, Inglis has conveyed to the IPL franchises through the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he will be available for the four games in the IPL 2026. The 30-year-old is currently part of the second ongoing Ashes 2025-26 test at the Gabba. The IPL 2026 schedule is clashing with his wedding, which is the reason that he will be available for 25 percent of the season.
Notably, Inglis is not the only player who will not be available for the entire season. Apart from him, the Australian duo of Ashton Agar (65 percent) and William Sutherland (80 percent) of Australia, the Kiwi pacer Adam Milne (95 percent), and South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw (20 percent) have informed the BCCI about their limited availability.
