Kagiso Rabada has played 7 ODIs in India and has picked up 13 wickets.

South African pace bowler Kagiso Rabada feels that the Indian Premier League will come in useful for the Proteas in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in India. With just three months to go for Cricket's ultimate prize, teams have started building up their game and strategies. South Africa are empty-handed in the ICC tournaments and have not played even in the Final of the World Cup. South Africa have won only one ICC event in the 1998 ICC Knockout Trophy (now Champions Trophy) defeating West Indies in the Final. Since then they have been empty-handed in the ICC events. In the World Cup, since their readmission, they have played in Semi finals thrice and suffered crushing defeats every time.

Kagiso Rabada banks on IPL experience

Now with Indian Premier League experience, Kagiso Rabada and South African management are confident of their good campaign in the World Cup. Rabada said, “Heading into the World Cup in India, I do think that we have an advantage because we have played in the IPL for so many years. We have played at most of the grounds, If not all, so we understand the conditions”. He also talked about bowling challenges in Indian conditions. Rabada said, “Playing in India is tough as a fast bowler on some of those wickets”. Rabada has played 7 ODIs in India and picked up 13 wickets.

South Africa had a forgettable outing in the previous edition and were on the brink of finishing 9th out of the 10 teams. If they had not won against Sri Lanka or Australia in their final two encounters, they would have ended up with only one win and 3 points in the points table. Kagiso Rabada, David Miller, Heinrich Klassen, Aiden Markram, Rilee Rossouw, Dewald Brewis, and Tristan Stubbs are part of the Indian Premier League and most of these players will be part of the South African squad for the World Cup.
