Kagiso Rabada ruled out of ODI series against Australia due to ankle injury; Kwena Maphaka named as replacement

The South Africa Cricket Team have faced a big blow amid the ODI series against the Australia Cricket Team as pacer Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the entire series due to an ankle injury. He is suffering with inflammation on his right ankle.
The right-arm pacer will remain in Australia and will undergo rehabilitation under the Proteas medical staff. Kwena Maphaka has been named as the replacement for Rabada in the ODI squad. The youngster finished as the highest wicket-taker in the recently-concluded T20I series against Australia.
The left-arm pacer clinched nine wickets in three games at an average of 12.56. Rabada picked five wickets across three T20Is at an average of 16.40. Notably, Marco Jansen is also absent from the South Africa squad due to his recovery from a thumb injury.
Nandre Burger, Lungi Ngidi and Maphaka will lead the pace attack for the Proteas against Australia in the ODI series. They also have seam all-rounders Corbin Bosch and Wiaan Mulder in their squad.

Meanwhile, South Africa and Australia will clash in three ODI games. The opening game is underway at Cazaly’s Stadium, Cairns. The second and third ODIs will be played on August 22 and 24. The venue of both games is the Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay.
Meanwhile, Australia outplayed South Africa in the T20I series 2-1. The hosts crushed the Proteas by 17 runs in the first game. Later, the visitors made a comeback by winning the second match by 53 runs. In the final encounter, Australia grabbed a thrilling win by two wickets.
