New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is hopeful of positive results against second-string South African squad.

New Zealand named full-strength squad to take on South Africa in the two-match test series. Cricket South Africa named a second-string squad to take on Kiwis and Cricket South Africa prioritized the SA20 commitments. Cricket South Africa announced Neil Brand as the skipper of their squad for the two-match test series. Seven uncapped players are included in South African side.

This provides New Zealand cricket team a golden opportunity in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. A full-strength Kiwi squad will be looking to make sure they get 100 PCT points from the two test matches. On the other hand, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson believes that South African side can still produce a strong contest in the test series.

Kane Wiliamson looks positive about South Africa series

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson expressed that Kiwi side are under no illusions against South Africa. Williamson said, “We are under no illusions that it is going to be a tough contest for sure. They are all very good players and we just want to keep bringing the focus back to our cricket.” South Africa have dominated New Zealand in test cricket.

The upcoming series will be a golden chance for New Zealand to win their maiden test series against South Africa. Kane Williamson added that the team will be expecting to earn a few crucial points in the World Test Championship points table. He added, “Any win anywhere is crucial. That’s why it is difficult to micro-manage a Test championship campaign.”

Kane Williamson looks positive about his fitness and revealed, “My hamstring is good, it’s progressed well in the last couple of weeks. Feeling good, and looking forward to getting back to training and joining up with the team.” The first test between New Zealand and South Africa will be played at Bay Oval on 4th February. Second test will be held at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
