Former PCB chief Ramiz Raja earlier told Pakistan will not tour India for World Cup if India won't travel Pakistan for Asia Cup.

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja was the first one to state a boycott of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 if India don’t travel to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup 2023. But nothing happened, neither did India travel to Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023, nor did the PCB boycott a historical cricket event set to begin on 5th October with defending champions England taking on New Zealand in Ahmedabad. The Asia Cup was co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan in a hybrid model.

Former PCB chief Ramiz Raja is currently in India and has joined the commentary panel for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. Now, former Pakistan spin bowler Danish Kaneria has slammed Ramiz Raja for inconsistency in his stance. Kaneria has suggested that Ramiz Raja should have declined the offer as he was the first and the most assertive one in calling for a boycott of the event. Kaneria has said that Ramiz is doing commentary only for the money.

Danish slammed Ramiz Raja

Former Pakistan off-spinner Danish Kaneria in his YouTube channel said, “Ramiz Raja said Pakistan won’t travel to India for the World Cup, but he is doing commentary in India for money. He had some bold claims. I believe when you make such statements, you should stick to your words. It is a matter of self-respect. If he had said that Pakistan wouldn’t go to India, he should have rejected the offer to do commentary, I don't like his U-turn.”

Ramiz Raja was the first to call for a boycott of the World Cup event in India in-case BCCI don’t send their team for the Asia Cup 2023 to Pakistan. The tussle went on for a long time which resulted in Pakistan hosting Asia Cup 2023 along with Sri Lanka in a hybrid model. India didn’t travel to Pakistan due to security concerns. A major share of credit for bringing back the game in Pakistan goes to Ramiz as he was the one who made the Australia and England visit happen.

Ramiz Raja’s tenure abruptly ended after the regime change in Pakistan. As soon as Imran Khan was ousted from his post as the PM, Ramiz Raja’s position was shaken and after a few months, he had to move out and be replaced by Nazam Sethi, who now has been replaced by Zaka Ashraf. Pakistan are currently based in Hyderabad for their warm-up matches and first two league-round games in the World Cup 2023. The team got welcomed with a grand reception from fans in Hyderabad.
