Kapil Dev opens up about MS Dhoni's retirement asks, 'Should he keep playing for rest of his life?'
Chennai Super Kings' skipper MS Dhoni will play his 11th IPL final on Monday.
Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has surprised everyone with his decision most of the time in his cricket career. Be it the announcement of retirement from test cricket or limited overs cricket or leaving captaincy, he has decided as per his wish and without any farewell. A lot of fans are wondering if this will be the last time they will watch MS Dhoni leading the Chennai Super Kings on the field or if will he play one more season in the IPL 2024. Talking about his IPL retirement, the CSK captain has said that he has 8-9 months to decide on his future, but he will never leave CSK in the IPL.
'Should be thankful to MS Dhoni'
Now, India’s one of the greatest captains, Kapil Dev has given his opinion on the talks around MS Dhoni’s retirement and IPL career. Kapil said that India should be thankful that MS Dhoni kept entertaining and gave so many moments to cherish in his 15 years long IPL career. He said, “He’s been playing for 15 years, what else do we want from him? Should he continue playing for the rest of his life? This will not happen. We should be thankful that a player of his caliber came and played for 15 years. Dhoni may not play tomorrow or next season but he played some brilliant cricket towards the end”. Dhoni will play his 11th IPL final out of his 16 seasons.
Talking about the fans attachment to their superstar player, the Former Indian all-rounder said, “As a fan, we all know what Dhoni has done for Indian cricket, it is incomparable. But Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Anil Kumble, Yuvraj Singh, and Virender Sehwag, all have left and Virat Kohli will leave one day. When a player of such stature leaves we should be celebrating it rather than feeling sad”. MS Dhoni will play in the IPL 2023 final for Chennai Super Kings at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad against home team Gujarat Titans. The Final was originally scheduled on Sunday but due to a complete washout, it was postponed to reserve day on Monday.
