Jasprit Bumrah played three games during ENG vs IND test series.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Dinesh Karthik has attacked Jasprit Bumrah’s critics who slammed him for his rare failure during the fourth test between India and England at Old Trafford, Manchester. The right-arm pacer leaked 100-plus runs for the first time in an innings during the match.

Across his 33 overs in the first innings, Bumrah registered figures of 2/122. Moreover, Bumrah was part of three games during the series, out of which India lost two games and one ended in a draw. The pacer played the first test at Headingley, the third test at Lord’s, and the fourth test in Manchester.

Moreover, many fans have also alleged that India does not win test matches in which Bumrah plays. Notably, the right-arm pacer was the joint second-highest wicket-taker for India with 14 scalps in three matches at an average of 26.0. He also clinched five-wicket hauls in the first and third tests.

He is a world champion: Dinesh Karthik slams Jasprit Bumrah’s critics

Karthik, who was one of the commentators during India’s tour of England 2025, slammed Bumrah’s critics and said that the Indian pacer is a world champion who will finish his career like a legend. Speaking to Cricbuzz, he said:

“Now this stat of when he play, India does not win. It’s not his mistake. He is so impactful that others pale in comparison at times which is understandable. He is a world champion. When he finishes cricket, he will be spoken in the same parlance as a Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, Dale Steyn”, he said.

“And I hope he will have a longer career knowing that I can pick and choose matches when I feel I am ready because there is no more pressure that I am the only one and at every match, I have to play,” he further said.

“And at times, it’s unfair. It’s a body, he knows what he has gone through. Two back injuries, one nasty ACL he had in 2014. It’s not easy and sometimes I feel we have to cut him some slack as well,” he added.

During the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, Bumrah became the first Asian bowler to reach the mark of 150 wickets in the SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries. He also crossed 50 test wickets in England during the series.

Meanwhile, the India vs England test series ended in a 2-2 draw after Shubman Gill & Co. made a brilliant comeback to win the fifth test at The Oval, winning by six runs. Mohammed Siraj picked up a five-wicket haul in the second innings to win the Player of the Match award. Gill and Harry Brook were adjudged Player of the Series for their wonderful batting shows.
