Karun Nair scored 0 and 20 in the Leeds test for India on his comeback after eight years.

Indian Cricket Team batter Karun Nair would be dissatisfied with his performance in the opening test match against the England Cricket Team, according to former India player Varun Aaron. He pointed out that in the first game of the series, the Vidarbha batter did not live up to the hype.

On Tuesday, June 24, England defeated India by five wickets in the first test match played at Headingley in Leeds. Edgbaston in Birmingham will host the second game of the five-match series from July 2.

While appearing on the Star Sports program ‘Follow the Blues,’ Aaron was questioned about India’s conclusions before the second test.

The main thing is that captain Shubman Gill has taken the reins from Rohit Sharma, and he has scored a brilliant century. So, he is going to be full of confidence when it comes to his batting. KL Rahul, again, is showing his class and showing how he can really rally all the batsmen around him. He is the senior player now. Rishabh Pant is showing what vice-captaincy can do to him with two back-to-back centuries, but the middle order is going to have to step up,” Varun Aaron said on Star Sports.

Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant (twice), and KL Rahul all scored centuries for India in the Leeds test, which they lost despite scoring more than 830 runs in the match.

Karun Nair is going to be disappointed – Varun Aaron

One of the biggest disappointments in India’s innings was Karun Nair, who made his India test comeback after eight years. He scored a duck in the first innings and 20 runs in the second innings, despite looking good in the middle.

Aaron pointed out that Nair failed to contribute in the first innings and got out to an innocuous ball in the second innings.

“Karun Nair is going to be disappointed. He came in with a lot of high hopes. People were really putting their money on him. He got out cheaply in the first innings. In the second innings as well, he couldn’t believe that he got out to a ball that was a half-volley. He is going to be hungry to come back and put some runs on board in Birmingham,” he observed.

In India’s opening innings of the Leeds test, Karun Nair was caught at short extra cover off Ben Stokes’ delivery for a four-ball duck.  In the second innings, Chris Woakes caught him and bowled him for 20 from 54 balls.
