Karun Nair made a comeback during England test series after seven long years.

Indian Cricket Team batter Karun Nair shared his take on getting dropped from the test side after just one series following his comeback after seven years. He said that he deserved more than a series and it was very disappointing to get dropped after one series.

Karun Nair, who since the last few years has been performing extremely well in the domestic circuit, finally made a comeback to the Indian side in the series against England. Having last played for India in 2017, he fought his way back to the national side after eight years.

It was expected that Karun Nair would set the stage on fire as he also slammed a ton in the A series in England ahead of the main series. However, he failed to grab the opportunity as he played four games and managed just one fifty, which came in the last match of the series, where he scored 205 runs.

But, having scored so many runs in the domestic circuit, it was expected that he would get one more chance, at home, to prove his worth. But that wasn’t the case as he wasn’t named in the Indian team for the West Indies series with Ajit Agarkar categorically mentioning that they expected him to do more in England.

The grind, however, didn’t stop for him as Karun, playing for Karnatka, slammed a ton against Goa in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025-26. Reacting to his snub from the Indian side, he said that it was disappointing.

“Obviously, it is quite disappointing,” the 33-year-old said, on the sidelines of Karnataka’s Ranji Trophy match against Goa, here on Sunday. “After the last two years I’ve had, I think I deserved a lot better. More than a series. There are certain individuals in the [Indian] team who have had good conversations with me about how they felt. That’s about it.”

Karun admitted that getting dropped after just one series gets into his head but he focuses on his job, which is to score runs. He said that he wants to play for India again.

“It does get into the head. But the second thought would be to do your job, which is to score runs and let people have their opinions,” Karun stated.

“Honestly, what target can I have next? All I want to do is to play for the country. If you’re not able to do that, the next thing would be to try and win games for the side you are playing for,” he concluded.
