Karun Nair failed to score big in the first test against England in Leeds.

Former Indian Cricket Team player Varun Aaron has made a massive statement on Karun Nair ahead of the second test against the England Cricket Team. He feels that the Edgbaston test could be a last chance for the right-hander to perform and he will be under massive pressure.

After the enthralling first test between England and India, the focus moves towards the second game of the series. The match will be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham from 2nd July and will be a crucial game for both teams in the context of the series.

India, in particular, would be keen to win as they faced a five-wicket loss in the first game at Headingly in Leeds. There were a few areas of concern for the team in the first game, especially the collapse of the lower-order in both innings, which cost the team big time.

One of the major reasons behind that was Karun Nair. The Vidarbha batter, who made a comeback in the team after eight long years, failed to make an impact. He bagged a duck in the first innings and then managed just 20 runs in the second innings.

Batting at six, Karun Nair was expected to play a major role for India. He slammed a double ton in the unofficial test series between India A and England Lions, and on account of that, many backed him to come good, but that wasn’t the case. However, he would be keen to make a strong comeback in the second game.

Karun will definitely be under pressure because he has regained his place after eight years – Varun Aaron

Varun Aaron also feels that the Edgbaston test could be a make-or-break game for Karun Nair. He stressed that the batter has scored runs in county cricket at the venue and he will be high on confidence. The former India pacer was also quick to quip that the second test could be his last chance. Speaking on Star Sports, he said:

“Obviously, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul will be there because they scored centuries in the first Test. However, in my opinion, Karun Nair will be a very important batter at Edgbaston because he has scored runs there in county cricket.”

So he will take that confidence to Edgbaston. In my opinion, it’s a very important game for Karun. He didn’t score runs in the first match. Karun will definitely be under pressure because he has regained his place after eight years. Maybe this could be the last chance,” he concluded.
