Karun Nair re-signs with Karnataka after spending two years with Vidarbha in domestic cricket

Karun Nair had an amazing domestic career for Vidarbha, resulting in his India test comeback after eight years.
Karun Nair will return to Karnataka for the 2025/26 domestic season after being re-signed by the squad. After being dropped by his home side in 2022, the batsman spent two seasons with Vidarbha (2023 and 2024). While Nair returns to Karnataka, the team’s pacer Vasuki Koushik will now represent Goa in the upcoming season.
Karun Nair was a great player across both formats, scoring 863 runs in the Ranji Trophy and 779 runs in the Vijay Hazare while representing Vidarbha. Nair is now with the Indian Cricket Team in England, having returned to the test team after an absence of eight years.
According to Cricbuzz, Nair decided to return to Karnataka for personal reasons and has been re-signed by the squad. According to the report, pacer Koushik applied for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to play for Goa. The pacer will now join Arjun Tendulkar in his new team.
Reason for Karun Nair’s return to Karnataka

Four years after losing his place in the test team, Karun also lost his place in the state team. He moved to Vidarbha after losing his place in the Karnataka cricket team. After two seasons, he is now set to return to Karnataka.
Nair scored 863 runs in the Ranji Trophy, fourth highest in the tournament, and led the Vijay Hazare one-day competition with 779 runs. He had left his home state ahead of the 2023-24 season, but is now expected to return for personal and family reasons.
Nair, who scored 779 runs, helped Vidarbha to reach the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024 final. His stay with Vidarbha compelled the selectors to choose him for the upcoming five-match test series against England.
Karun is one of only two Indian batsmen who have scored a triple century in test cricket, with 505 runs in nine matches. In 2016, he reached the milestone during a test against England in Chennai. Virender Sehwag was the first batter to score a triple century in tests.
Karun has 46 runs from two ODIs. In June 2016, he made his white-ball debut alongside KL Rahul and Yuzvendra Chahal in the first of three one-day internationals against Zimbabwe.
