Karun Nair played six tests and two ODIs for India in 2016 and 2017.

India batsman Karun Nair has created a jaw-dropping world record amid sensational form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy for scoring the most runs in List-A cricket without being dismissed.

Nair is currently the captain of Vidarbha in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which is India’s premier 50-over domestic competition.

He achieved this world record during his side’s eight-wicket win over Uttar Pradesh on Friday in Vizianagaram, where Nair played a splendid hand of 112 runs.

With this knock, Nair has now amassed 542 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024/25 in only five innings while being dismissed only once.

Nair broke former New Zealand allrounder James Franklin’s record of 527 runs without being dismissed that the left-hander set in 2010. The next three men on this list are Joshua van Heerden (512), Fakhar Zaman (455) and Taufeeq Umar (422).

Karun Nair leads the runs chart in Vijay Hazare Trophy with unbelievable form

Nair has slammed four centuries in five innings in the competition. He started the tournament with a knock of 112* off 108 balls against Jammu & Kashmir, and followed it up with 44* in a small chase against Chhattisgarh.

His next three scores were 168* against Chandigarh, 111* against Tamil Nadu and 112 against Uttar Pradesh. He averages a whopping 542!

Vidarbha are in Group D and they are at the top of the points table right now with five wins in five games. They have collected 20 points and are set to proceed to the next round.

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old Nair played six tests and two ODIs for India in 2016 and 2017. He is India’s second triple centurion, a feat he achieved against England in Chennai in 2016. But after three failures in the 2017 BGT, Nair was dropped from the side.
