KL Rahul fully fit and available for Asia Cup 2023, Shreyas Iyer unlikely to be available - Reports

KL Rahul missed half of the IPL 2023 and ICC WTC Final due to thigh injury.
A number of key Indian players have suffered various injuries in the last 12 months or so. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Prasidh Krishna have missed a lot of action in the past few months. Though Bumrah and Prasidh are good enough to go and are part of the upcoming Ireland tour for a three-match T20I series. Meanwhile, Pant will take another six months to get fully fit.
On the other hand, a few media reports suggest that Rahul and Iyer haven’t recovered completely and are likely to miss the upcoming Asia Cup. However, now it has been learned that the wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul is all set to make his comeback into the Indian team. He is likely to make his comeback in the Asia Cup 2023.
KL Rahul to make his comeback for Asia Cup while Shreyas Iyer will miss the tournament
Rahul suffered a thigh injury during the Indian Premier League, which forced him to miss the remainder of the season. He was replaced as the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants by Krunal Pandya. He also underwent surgery and is fit now. According to latest reports from TOI, KL Rahul is “completely fit and available for selection for Asia Cup 2023.”
The upcoming Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The tournament will be played between August 30 and September 17, with four games in Pakistan and the other matches in Sri Lanka. India will open their campaign on September 2 with a match against arch-rivals Pakistan at Pallekele Cricket Stadium. It will be a great boost for the Indians if Rahul makes it to the ODI squad.
His presence on the team provides great balance. He can keep the wicket and bat in the middle order. KL Rahul has also been updating fans about his recovery by sharing multiple posts on his social media handles. A source confirmed, “The coaches and medical experts at the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bangalore are satisfied with KL Rahul’s progress. He will be available for selection for the Asia Cup.”
