KL Rahul will be taking up the role of Number 5 in the Indian batting order.

Broken pieces of the Indian cricket team are falling into pieces once again. After Jasprit Bumrah came back into the Indian squad, there is another good news for Indian cricket fans. Injured middle-order batter KL Rahul has started batting and wicketkeeping at the National Cricket Academy. This gives a major boost to India’s settled Playing XI in the 50-overs format. In a long list of injuries, now fans are only waiting for the Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer injury updates. These two players’ comeback will bring full strength to the playing XI.

A video has gone viral on Social media where KL Rahul is seen batting in full flow. Rahul also practised wicketkeeping giving a signal that he is ready to take back his Number 5 position in the 50-over playing XI. KL Rahul injured himself during a game in the IPL 2023. KL Rahul pulled his calf muscle while chasing a ball against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Rahul went straight to London for the treatment and has been at the National Cricket Academy for the last few weeks.

There was a lot of confusion in the Indian team management since the injury of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul. The repercussions were visible in the recently concluded West Indies tour. The Indian team had to try out multiple options to explore the best possible options for the World Cup 2023 in the worst-case scenario if KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer remain unfit for the big tournaments. Coach Rahul Dravid even tried Axar Patel at Number 4 in the second ODI at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

KL Rahul will be slated at Number 5 as he has got the best numbers in that position in the 50-overs format. Rahul has played 18 matches at the Number 5 position and scored 742 runs at an outstanding average of 53.00 smashing 7 half-centuries and one century. Rahul also kept wickets in most of the games he played at Number 5. Soon selectors will be picking the best possible squad for the Asia Cup 2023. With KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer both batting in the nets, these two names might be added to the squad.
