Watch: Kuldeep Yadav takes a juggling catch to get rid of Rashid Khan
Kuldeep Yadav managed to picked up just one wicket against Afghanistan in Delhi.
Indian fielders and bowlers had a mixed day against Afghanistan at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi during the first innings. A few misfields have helped Afghanistan reach a decent total in the game. But on the other hand, there were a few magnificent efforts from all-rounder Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav in fielding. After a magnificent catch at the start from Shardul, Kuldeep Yadav has also got one magnificent catch in the outfield.
India’s chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav took a screamer fielding at the third man area to dismiss dangerous Rashid Khan. Rashid was looking dangerous and was finding his feet nicely against the Indian pace attack. He smashed a four and a six during his short 12-ball stay at the crease and helped Afghanistan cross the 250 mark in their innings. Kuldeep’s catch was a crucial one that restricted Afghanistan to a 272 mark.
Kuldeep Yadav takes a screamer to dismiss Rashid
Rashid Khan tried to go over the third-man boundary with his famous cut shot against Jasprit Bumrah. Rashid couldn’t connect it properly as Bumrah deceived him with the pace. Rashid did attempt his shot with full strength but Kuldeep was patrolling at the third man boundary. He saw the ball dipping as the connection was not proper. Kuldeep came running forward to grab the ball but he needed two attempts to completely take control of the catch.

Ravindra Jadeja was also running towards Kuldeep as he also saw an opportunity due to Rashid’s poor connection but Kuldeep’s close call prevented a drop catch and a possible horrible collision between the two Indian fielders. Afghanistan are restricted to 272 runs. This could be a tricky and challenging total for India considering the spin firepower Afghanistan have under their name. Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Mujeeb Zadran will be crucial.
Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi (80) and Azmatullah Omarzai (62) played magnificent knocks and added a brilliant 121 runs stand for the 4th wicket for Afghanistan. They bail out Afghanistan from a tough position. Jasprit Bumrah picked up 4 wickets in his 10 overs and conceded 39 runs. Birthday boy Hardik Pandya picked up 2 wickets in his 7 overs conceding 43 runs. India need 273 runs to remain unbeaten in World Cup 2023.
