Kuldeep Yadav didn’t play a single game in the England ODI series.

India’s white-ball setup has gone through several changes over the past few months, especially after the disappointing T20I and ODI results against Ireland and England. Recently, India lost the five-match T20I series by 4-0 and the ODI series by 2-1; therefore, the team management has continued experimenting with new combinations as they want to build a strong squad for the future.

The selectors have also backed several young players across formats, giving opportunities to new faces with some experienced names. But, with this approach, some of the key experienced players have found themselves on the sidelines.

Kuldeep Yadav is one of the key spin bowlers of the India, but he hasn’t got regular opportunities in recent times. Kuldeep remains one of India’s most experienced white-ball bowlers; however, despite that he didn’t play a single game in England series.

Kuldeep, who is India‘s first-choice spinner in ODIs, was benched in all three games with management opting for all-rounders. The move didn’t pay off as India struggled to take wickets in middle, and his snub saw many fans and pundits criticising the team management.

With him getting lack of opportunities, Yorkshire County Cricket Club officially announced the signing of Kuldeep Yadav as their overseas player for the remainder of the English domestic season. Kuldeep will first represent the club in five Metro One-Day Cup matches before returning in September to play three of Yorkshire’s final four County Championship matches.

Kuldeep is expected to make his debut for Yorkshire in their upcoming One-Day Cup fixture against Glamorgan.

On joining the side, he said:

“I’m really pleased to be joining Yorkshire and grateful for this opportunity. It will be a real privilege to represent a club with Yorkshire’s proud history,” said Kuldeep Yadav.

“I have always enjoyed the challenge of playing in English conditions, and after speaking with the management, I became really excited to join up with the team. I’m looking forward to making a positive contribution during my time at Headingley.” Kuldeep further added.

The left-arm spinner would be keen to make a mark in the one-day cup and reclaim his spot back in the Indian side.
