Sreesanth’s wife slammed Lalit Modi for releasing IPL slap-gate video.
Former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi has responded to Sreesanth’s wife Bhuvneswari Kumari’s criticisms for releasing a video of the IPL slap-gate incident involving Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth.
During IPL 2008, Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth after a game between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). The incident is known as IPL slap-gate and is one of the earliest controversies in the league.
During a recent podcast with Michael Clarke, Modi talked about the incident and also shared an unreleased video of the exact moment when Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth. The video later went viral on social media. Following that, Sreesanth’s wife Bhuvneshwari lambasted Modi and Clarke on Instagram for releasing the video.
I don’t know why she is getting angry – Lalit Modi
In an interaction with IANS, Modi said that he just shared the truth to a question. He also noted that he called Sreesanth a victim in the incident.
“I don’t know why she (Sreesanth’s wife Bhuvneshwari) is getting angry. I was asked a question, and I shared the truth. I can’t do anything about that. I am known to speak the truth. Sree was the victim, and that’s exactly what I said. No one had asked me this question earlier, so when Clarke quipped, I responded,” he said.
In her Instagram stories, Sreesanth’s wife slammed Modi and Clarke for releasing the video for cheap publicity.
“Shame on you @lalitkmodi and @michaelclarkeofficial. You people are not even human to drag up something from 2008 just for your own cheap publicity and views. Both @sreesanthnair36 and Harbhajan have long moved on in life and are fathers now with school-going children, and yet you try to throw them back into an old wound. Absolutely disgusting, heartless, and inhuman,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Harbhajan has apologised to Sreesanth on numerous occasions over the incident. He has also termed this incident as a big regret in his life. Both the former Indian players share a close friendship now and have also done commentary together.
