Justin Langer to replace Andy Flower as Lucknow Super Giants' head coach - Reports

Lucknow Super Giants finished 3rd in the IPL 2023.

Lucknow Super Giants are looking for a new head coach before the start of the next Indian Premier League season and reports have emerged that, the former Australian opener Justin Langer is in line to replace Andy Flower. Lucknow Super Giants made their IPL debut in the 2022 season and ended up in the top 4 in both seasons.

Former Australian coach Justin Langer was part of Australia's T20 World Cup-winning team in 2021. Lucknow Super Giants struggled to win in knockout games in both IPL seasons and were knocked down in Eliminator game in both seasons.

As per a few media reports from cricbuzz, Lucknow Super Giants have decided to part ways with their head coach Andy Flower after his contract is over and had a talk with Justin Langer to induct him in their support staff along with mentor Gautam Gambhir, bowling coach Morne Morkel, fielding coach Jonty Rhodes, assistant coach Vijay Dahiya, and spin bowling coach Pravin Tambe.

Justin Langer also won the Big Bash League title with Perth Scorchers thrice under his tenure as coach. Langer is currently not associated with any team after he left the Australian team under a new skipper Pat Cummins. 

Several rounds of talks have undergone and yet no one among Lucknow Super Giants management or Justin Langer speaking on the matter. Langer joined the Australian team as head coach after the sandpaper gate controversy in 2018. Apart from Lucknow, Delhi Capitals will also be looking to bring a change in their coaching staff. As per a few media reports, Sourav Ganguly is set to replace Ricky Ponting as head coach of Delhi as the team finished 9th in the IPL 2023.
