Sanju Samson scored his first IPL century in the 2017 season.

Sanju Samson has been one of the best wicket-keeper batsmen to have played in Indian Premier League (IPL). The right-handed batter made his debut in the 2013 edition for the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

He later represented Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) for two seasons in 2016 and 2017, before reuniting with RR in the 2018 edition. In 2021, he was named as Rajasthan’s captain and led the team to the final in the 2022 edition, where they ended up as runners-up.

Ahead of IPL 2026, Samson commenced a fresh journey in the tournament by pairing up with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), through a landmark trade deal with RR.

The 31-year-old has hammered five centuries in the IPL and also is among the few batters who hold the record for hitting two centuries in a single season.

1. 102 vs Rising Pune Supergiants in IPL 2017

Representing Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the IPL 2017 season, Samson slammed his first century in the tournament. He rocked with the bat in a clash against now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants, scoring 102 runs off 63 deliveries while batting at number three. Driving the team to victory by a big margin of 97 runs, he was awarded Player of the Match.

2. 102* vs Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2019

Samson reached the three-digit mark for the second time in the 2019 edition, but this time for Rajasthan Royals (RR). In a clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), he scored an unbeaten 102 runs off 55 deliveries, smacking 10 boundaries and four sixes. However, his century went in vain after SRH chased down RR’s 199-run target with ease.

3. 119 vs Punjab Kings in IPL 2021

After taking the Rajasthan Royals (RR) captaincy in IPL 2021, Samson led the from the front. Facing Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 4th match of the tournament, he scored 119 runs while chasing a mammoth 222-run target.

Unfortunately, he could not take Rajasthan to victory, as they remained short of four runs in the end. Despite RR’s loss, Samson was awarded Player of the Match for his impeccable job with the bat.

4. 115* vs Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026

Becoming a part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2026, Samson struggled in the initial games and got out for single digits in the first three matches. He bounced back with a stunning unbeaten century in the clash against Delhi Capitals (DC), scoring 115 runs with 15 boundaries and four sixes. After three defeats in a row at the start, CSK won their first game of the season on back of Sanju’s heroics.

5. 101* vs Mumbai Indians – IPL 2026

The two most successful teams of IPL history- Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians- clashed in the 33rd match of IPL 2026. Despite having the home advantage, Mumbai suffered one of their worst defeats against CSK at Wankhede Stadium and the hero of the match was none other than Sanju Samson.

Batting as an opener, he hammered MI bowlers all over the park, scoring an unbeaten 101 runs off 54 deliveries. While other batters failed to even score a fifty, Sanju played a ‘One-Man Army’ role, taking the scoreboard to 207/6.

The Hardik Pandya & Co. succumbed to the pressure in the challenging chase, with only two batters scoring in double digits. They were bundled out for just 104 runs, suffering a humiliating defeat by 103 runs.
