Litton Das is captaining Bangladesh in place of Shakib Al Hasan in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand.

Bangladesh stand-in captain Litton Das was not a happy after his dismissal in the second ODI against New Zealand, as his team conceded an 86-runs defeat to the Kiwis, who are playing a second-string side ahead of World Cup 2023 tournament.

New Zealand captain Lockie Ferguson won the toss and chose to bat first. Though Will Young got out for a duck, Henry Nicholls (49) and Tom Blundell (68) and contributions from the lower-order helped New Zealand put up 254 on the board. Ish Sodhi made 35, and Cole McConchie and Kyle Jamieson made 20 runs each as well.

For Bangladesh, Khaled Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan picked three wickets each, and Mustafizur Rahman took two scalps.

In reply, Mahmudullah (49) and Tamim Iqbal (44), the two veteran Bangladeshi batters, were the only ones to stand up to the New Zealand bowlers as Bangladesh crumbled for 168 runs and lost by 86 runs. Ish Sodhi starred with 6/39, while Kyle Jamieson took two wickets.

Standing-in skipper Litton Das, who is leading Bangladesh in place of Shakib Al Hasan, had another bad day at the crease, managing to score only a 16-balls 6 before being bowled out by Kyle Jamieson in the sixth over. Litton had three average performances in Asia Cup 2023, making this his fourth straight batting failure.

Litton appeared to be pretty angry about getting out , and he did so in an unusual way. The keeper-batter slammed his bat on the ground as he made his way back to the dugout, eventually throwing it aside before going into the locker room.

Litton missed Bangladesh's group-stage Asia Cup fixtures against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan owing to fever. He played in all super 4 matches for Bangladesh but managed only 31 runs, including a silver duck, at an average of 10.33.
