Lizzad Williams dismissed Shubman Gill on a duck in the 2nd T20I St George’s Park, Gqeberha.

In a thrilling face-off between India and South Africa in the second T20 International in Gqeberha. The home team won the toss and elected to bowl first. Indian team excluded Shreyas Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi from their playing XI.

The opening moments of the game showcased a formidable display of skill by South African bowler Lizaad Williams, who delivered a masterful performance with the ball. Shubman Gill, India’s promising young opener, unfortunately found himself on the wrong end of a brilliant delivery by Williams in just the second over.

Shubman Gill dismissed for a duck

As the ball curved deceptively back into Gill, Williams executed a perfect nip-backer that left the batsman trapped in front of the stumps. Umpire had no hesitation in raising his finger, prompting Gill to opt for a review. The replay, however, confirmed the absence of any bat involved, and the ball tracking displayed three ominous reds, sealing Gill’s fate with a disheartening duck.

Adding an intriguing twist to the dismissal, Williams couldn’t resist mocking Shubman Gill’s “Prince” tag, highlighting the psychological warfare that often accompanies on-field battles. Gill, now dismissed without contributing a single run, faced the early setback with resilience.

The departure of Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck further intensified the pressure on India, as both openers failed to make an impact. With Suryakumar Yadav stepping in, team finds themselves at 101 for 3 in 11 overs.

Williams’ dismissal of Gill not only showcased the bowler’s skill and precision but also injected a dose of drama and rivalry into the contest.
