5. Denmark Women (47 all out) vs ENGW, Banstead, 1993
The fifth lowest total in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup was recorded by Denmark Women during the 1993 edition. They registered this unwanted score against England Women in Banstead. England posted 286/3 in the first innings, with opener Janette Brittin scoring 104 runs.
It was a big total in those days, and Denmark couldn’t get going at all, getting bowled out for just 47 runs, which included 14 extras. Eight batters got out for ducks, making it a sorry-looking batting card.
4. Netherlands Women – 40 vs New Zealand Women, Lindfield, 1993
Can you imagine a team batting for 54.2 overs (60-over ODI match) and not even scoring 50 runs? That’s what happened when Netherlands Women faced New Zealand Women during the 1993 edition in Lindfield.
Ariette van Noortwijk scored 22 runs for Netherlands and they were bowled out for 40 runs, scoring at a run rate of 0.73, with five ducks in their innings. Jennifer Turner took 5/5 in 11.2 overs. New Zealand took 13.2 overs in the chase to score 41/0 to win the game by ten wickets.
3. India Women – 37 vs New Zealand Women, Auckland, 1982
The lowest total for India in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup came against New Zealand in 1982 in Auckland. It was one of the most shocking games ever in this sport. New Zealand Women batted first and were bowled out for just 80 runs in 58.5 overs.
It wasn’t a big total, but India had a poor batting show, and they got all out for 37 runs in 35 overs, losing the game by 43 runs. Jackie Lord took 6/10 in eight overs. This is the lowest total (no rain-affected match) ever defended in an ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup completed match.
2. Netherlands Women – 29 vs Australia Women, Perth, 1988
Netherlands Women recorded the second-lowest total in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 1998 against Australia. This was the first game of the tournament in Perth. Australia posted 284/1 in the first innings, with Lindsay Reeler (143*) and Ruth Buckstein (100) scoring hundreds.
In reply, Netherlands couldn’t bat at all, getting all out for 29 runs in 25.1 overs, losing the game by 255 runs. Seven batters couldn’t open their account in that innings.
1. Pakistan Women – 27 vs Australia Women, Hyderabad, 1997
The lowest total in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup was registered by Pakistan Women during the 1997 edition. They achieved the unwanted record against Australia Women in Hyderabad. It is still one of the shortest cricket matches in women’s ODIs.
Pakistan batted for 13.4 overs and were all out for 27 runs, with only one batter scoring in double digits. Australia made 28/1 in 6.1 overs and won the game by nine wickets in a game that lasted 19.5 overs overall.
