Chasing targets is one of the hardest things at the Lord’s.

The Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, which is known as the “Home of Cricket,” is one of the best cricketing venues in the world. The vibe of test cricket at this venue is something that is very different, and over the years, there have been various enthralling games.

The Lord’s is known for its classic test match pitch, which assists both the batters and bowlers. Over the years, there have been various eye-catching performances at the venue, some of which are still fresh in the minds of many.

Chasing the target is one of the hardest things at the Home of Cricket. This is because the pitch gets spiced up when the last few days approach. Often, we have seen teams defending the target have an upper hand despite not setting a big target.

England also feature in the list, in the second spot, as they defeated Ireland in the game in 2019. They defended just 182 runs to register a magnificent win. In 1955, England also defended a low total as they didn’t let South Africa score 183 runs.

The fourth lowest total defended at the venue came in 2025 when England crossed swords with India. The game went down the wire and the hosts defended 193 runs, winning the game by 22 runs.

The 2013 game between England and New Zealand at the Lord’s also features in the list. The Kiwis were asked to chase 239 runs, and it was the hosts who ended up on the winning side. This is the fifth-lowest total defended here.

One of the most famous games at this venue, between India and England in 2021, also features in the list. Setting a target of 272 runs, the Indian pace battery gave a hard time to the hosts’ batter on day five, winning the game with ease.
